Menu Plan Monday....May 24

Well, this is something new that I am trying.  Hopefully, it will help me feel a little more organized in my kitchen!  I am inspired by the many blogs I love to read.  Several of them post their menu plans for the week on Monday.  So, with a little thought, I am going to try it this week.  I'm not going to stress out if it doesn't come to fruition, but at least I will attempt it!  Here goes:

Monday:  Pulled Pork sandwiches with homemade BBQ sauce (in freezer already, yay!)
Tuesday:  Soft Tacos (Ground Beef)
Wednesday:  Chicken Pasta Salad
Thursday:  Super Easy Chicken Enchilada Skillet
Friday:  Hamburgers on the (George Foreman) Grill

Wow!  It feels good to have a plan!  And, like I said, if I don't follow it exactly, it's okay....I think it will help to have it written down ahead of time.  I will plan to post the recipes after I make them (so I can have pictures for you)!

Do you plan out your meals for the week?  For the month?  Please share with the rest of us anything that has worked for you!  :)

I plan two ways that work together: First, I plan monthly. I write out monthly lists of menu plans and shopping needs. I plan according to what's in season and sale trends. I plan meals that use identical ingredients close together to limit waste and optimize savings. I do the bulk of my shopping for the whole month in one day, with a mid-month trip for perishables.

I also plan weekly, tweaking my plan each week as needed, but I try to stay as close to my monthly plan as possible.

I cook everything from scratch, so having a monthly AND weekly plan helps me stay on course.

  2. I plan weekly and love it. I don't always make what's on the menu. Life happens. It's a great way to save money and eat more home cooked meals.

  3. You're on your way to meal planning! I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes this week. Even though you may not do everything, it's nice to have a plan. Good luck!

  5. One way to see how you're doing is to come back to your post daily and document what you really did eat for dinner. Also, the more you do it the easier it gets!!

I am hoping by posting that my plan that I will be more accountable! :) After I posted the menu, I realized we had already finished the pulled pork from the freezer!! LOL!! Glad I had some sloppy joes in there! :)
