My Job Chart...FREE online job chart for your kids!

Maybe I am the last one to know about this cool tool, but I just came across My Job Chart while visiting Life as Mom today.

This is SO cool!  If you are like me, you have tried a number of ways to get your kids to consistently help out around the house...it seems in my house that we go in spurts...a system will work for awhile, and then fail....we do nothing for awhile...try a new one....fail....and on it goes!!!

The thing that intrigues me about My Job Chart is that it uses the computer...my boys LOVE to use the computer and they would be happy if I told them they SHOULD use the computer!  LOL!

Check out this video to learn more about it.

As the video tells you:
1.  It is FREE to use.
2.  Kids earn reward points that they can share, save and spend.
3.  Kids can redeem these rewards for actual items on Amazon.
4.  Did I say, it's FREE?  (Yes, I did...just had to say it again!)

I would love your feedback...have any of you used this with your children?

HisKids.net--FREE online children's radio programs

When I was a little girl, I loved to listen to our local Christian radio station on Saturday mornings.  This was the day that they had children's programs.  I remember "Uncle Charlie" and "The Sugar Creek Gang".  Today, my boys love to listen to Adventures in Odyssey, Jonathan Park and others.  The AM signal to our local station that plays those programs is rather weak, however, and we can't always listen.  We thought we solved the problem when my parents gave the boys a HisKids radio for Christmas a few years ago.  This radio had 2 stations....all children's programming from HisKids Radio, or KTIS, our local Christian station.  Unfortunately when His Kids radio made the switch to satellite, our local station chose not to continue broadcasting.  :(  (I might have to give them a call!)  I have discovered that all of the programs can be listened to on their website though.  If you are interested in some positive programming for your children, check it out at HisKids.net.
They have a WiFi radio that you can purchase (comparable to the old radio my boys received), if your children really love it and you don't want to have them using the computer to listen!

Happy Birthday to my mom!!!!

Today's post is in honor of my sweet mom!  She is turning 75 today!  Wow, it's hard to believe.  She is a very young 75, to say the least!  I am so thankful for her.  I never knew her mother, because she passed away before I was born.  How thankful I am, that my boys have gotten to know their Mormor (Swedish for mother's mother) so well!  We had a wonderful celebration yesterday.  Mom and Dad joined us for Sunday dinner.  We had a good old-fashioned Sunday dinner meal after church, just like my mom used to make for our family when I was growing up!  It was fabulous to come home from church and smell the roast cooking in the crockpot!  I love my crockpot!!!  :)  We had beef roast, make ahead mashed potatoes, peas, cooked carrots (from my garden!), rolls (the cute little ones that my mom makes), and for dessert we had brownie sundaes with homemade hot fudge sauce!  Wow!  We usually don't eat that well on a Sunday (or ever)!  It was wonderful to use Christmas plates and all the beautiful goblets, silverware, etc. that we got for our wedding, but hardly ever use!  I don't know about you, but I think I need to do this more often!  :)  My boys had a wonderful time and my 11 year old especially loves to help me serve the meal.  Sigh....what a wonderful day!  Thank you God, for families!  :) Pin It Print Friendly and PDF

Feed My Starving Children

Wow!  What a blessing it was today to pack boxes of meals at Feed My Starving Children with 2 of my boys for hungry children around the world.  Our group packed 68 boxes of food in less than 2 hours!!!!  They said it works out to providing a whole year's worth of food for 40 children!!!  What a great feeling!!!  :)  Thank you, Lord for all that you have blessed me with here in the U.S.!!!

Update on January 21, 2010:  After the horrific earthquake in Haiti last week, it is comforting to know that Feed My Starving Children has a great relationship with many missionaries and relief organizations in Haiti.  If you would like to know more about how you can help, visit Feed My Starving Children. Yay!

Are you like me?  I find it so satisfying when my family enjoys what I make for dinner!!!  I had thought I would make enough garlic mashed potatoes to put one portion in the freezer.  (Cub had them on sale for 68 cents for 5 lbs. of potatoes!)  But, they loved them and wanted more!!!!  I did save enough to put away for later.  Shhhh, don't tell....:) Pin It Print Friendly and PDF
